Masha, I know that you have your own boutique registered under the Masha Sharoeva trade mark. Tell us, how it happened that you decided to launch your own small business.
 Once I met some fascinating people who had an idea of establishing a "Beauty Corporation" Center providing various cosmetic and health services. And we decided that it would be appropriate to include a designer clothing boutique among the Center features. So, that is how it happened… 

Do you have many visitors there? The "Corporation" clients drop in and I also have my own private clients for whom I make clothes on their orders. Also I have some clients who purchase items from my collections. In this country, fashion designers mainly work with private clients. There is no such environment in Russia yet that would allow to earn profits just by selling collections made for fashion shows. 

Please, give us an idea of your style concept… 
All the clothes I design are made in a certain style which is very difficult to describe. But it is sufficiently identifiable. The items are not of a classical type but at the same time they are not a hundred percent avant-garde. This is a blend of traditions with our times. Still, my clothing is not quite geared for teenagers, since the main thing for the younger generation is to stay in a common pack and for everyone to be alike. But my clients have affectations for some unrestraint and are not afraid of sticking out of the ordinary crowd and openly declaring themselves! My father, for instance, is not a young person by a long count but he wears my clothes and likes them. And he is also proud of me (Smiling).

 Is it more interesting and pleasing to make clothing for gentlemen or for ladies?
 Making men's and women's clothing are worlds apart. You can pile absolutely anything on a female and she will look just beautiful. But men's clothes are more severe and solid and it is much harder to work with them. Still, such difficulties themselves makes working with them more interesting. As for orders, there are always more of them for women's clothing… 

Do your clients fully rely on your taste? Yes, they do, since they trust me and feel comfortable in my clothes. And in the process of making a costume or a garment we always find a common language with the client. 

I've heard that you work for cinema now. You are right, recently I've been invited to design costumes for a movie. This is a comedy about our soldiers in Africa and about their life in various tribes. But designing for movies is quite a special kind of work in which I am just starting to assert myself. This is my debut for designing screen costumes all by myself. Previously, I've been working as an assistant costume designer and as an aide. Now a historical film is being released - the Turkish Gambit movie based on the Boris Akunin's novel. For this picture I designed costumes for just one female role. Still, in this not so much a creative talent was needed as the ability to perceive and convey the times and the environment through the costumes. All this is very interesting for me, but I find my own creative endeavors much more important (Smiling).
