Fashion is a game, a play of color and shape, with the style being the referee, the skirts are getting shorter, the glances are getting more and more honest, the face features are getting stricter and stricter – the game is on! All that any person needs is: silk for tenderness, wool for warmth, strong cotton for protection against cold winds, a lot of zipper fastenings for comfort and transparency for feeling self-assured. MASHA SHAROEVA is, as always, a confident and brilliant player in the field of fashion!
Lightness, simplicity and natural lines, maximum freedom in motion – these are the key concepts of clothing by Masha Sharoeva for the 2008 spring and summer season. The style of the new collection has a lot in common with the previous, winter, collection remembered by its exquisite details and the flavor of the Russian Modern epoch; but the designer believes that in the warm season the complex fabric compositions should be replaced by something easier and casual – while offering simple forms Masha Sharoeva fills them with some content that is refined, multi-dimensional and far from tedious. Her attire is comfortable everyday wear; everything in it emphasizes inherent advantages of the figure and delicately shades its disadvantages. The designer relies on wholly natural fabrics – silk and cotton that, when combined, provide a feeling of airiness. Simplest patterns of dresses, skirts, summer coats, blouses are decorated, "inlaid" with multiple details whose names, unfortunately, are gradually disappearing from the fashion world vocabulary – shirtfronts and cuffs are seen in their multitudes, a lot of embroidery and appliqué is used in clothing, it is generously decorated with vintage lace. In addition to the everyday wear, various capes are present in the collection. The warmth of a human hand and uniqueness can be felt in all items – handiwork always adds a special charm and individuality to clothing.
The new collection by Masha Sharoeva means multiplicity of tones, impressions, color combinations and lines; it is a kind of protest against the monochrome and boredom many people associate with the passing of summer. The attire included in the collection can be compared with culinary whims combining the ingredients previously thought absolutely incompatible – they are sharp-tasting, with a touch of bitterness and a sweet aroma, peculiar and never commonplace. These haute cuisine suggestions are augment by the color range prevalent in the collection – here we see an excess of chocolate, ginger, olive and ripe cherry hues. The designer continues to experiment with combinations of various materials – thin suede is coupled with rubbed leather, loose knits are set off by fur or rubberized cotton: all the fabrics seem to be covered with a slight patina of age and look so familiar and "domestic" and are so pleasant to the touch.
Lightness and flightiness – these are the two key definitions for Masha Sharoeva's spring/summer 2007 collection. The style of new items is based on contrasts – the retro and modern features are equally intrinsic to them as well as severity and slight extravagance, traditions and innovation. The light texture of silk and cotton fabrics gives a special urbanity and agility to the silhouettes, it is comfortable to wear the clothes, they never restrain your movements. The attire is distinctive by its fine color shades – pastel, "fuzzy" colors imperceptibly change from the dress tops to their hems due to hand-dyeing, while the texture of silk provides the aristocratic luster to them. The designer has introduced some new elements in her creations for the first time – some dresses are made with corsets conveying a kind of Victorian primness to them while vintage lace can be seen in blouses and shirts. Masha Sharoeva's creations can still be easily recognized by their peculiar trade mark – the unusual and elegant cuts which produce brilliant effects when combined with the fabrics she selects, such as crumpled cotton and flowing silk. The spring/summer 2007 clothes by Masha Sharoeva are for creative and outstanding people, for those who are slightly nostalgic and who choose their own different and memorable style

In Masha Sharoeva's summer collection some trends can be perceived from the items she has created for the previous fall/winter. Some shades of nostalgia, romantic silhouettes and sophisticated elegance – these features are as much inherent in Sharoeva's summer clothes as in her winter attire, but summer is the appropriate season for experiments when one should not fear looking extravagant and unusual. So some of Masha's discoveries in her previous works are pursued quite logically and completed in her new collection. First of all, they are expressed in unusual cuts of the clothes giving them quite special mood: the designer avoids traditional straight lines which look too formal. The seam line, rounded or zigzag, becomes a significant composition element of pants and jackets providing the items with nontrivial, slightly flippant look. Natural fabrics, mostly cotton, allow a person to feel completely free, without any restraints in movements. The color spectrum is quite diverse (ash-grey, yellow, orange-red, turquoise-green colors) but the tints of colors never irritate the eye, perfectly combining one with another. The clothes are strikingly amplified by leather accessories of Masha's creation and designer footwear. Unusual forms, freedom of movement and offhand grace of the garments finely combined in different sets – and cool spring followed by hot summer will bring fun and pass as a single breath, under admiring glances of everybody in the street.
Masha Sharoeva, confidently positioning herself in the recent years as one of the most talented Moscow designers of the new generation, is presenting her new collection at the Russian Fashion Week held on April 1-10, 2005. Masha Sharoeva's Fall-Winter 2005/05 collection has been to a large extent inspired, according to the designer herself, by old photos from the late 19th and the early 20th centuries which convey the charm and sophistication of that age to us. Restraint and elegance – this two features can be seen in all the garments in the collection consistently patterned in severe black-and-white colors and smartly highlighted with bright accessories – cozy intricate mufflers and fetching fur mantles. The slight nostalgia encouraging one to romantically perceive the coming cold season present in the collection style never repudiates novelty and crispness of its details – daring approaches to cuts of coats and cardigans, unusual combinations of fabrics (various types of cotton, wool and velvet, silk and fur). As in her previous collections for RFW, Masha designed all the accessories and footwear herself, which makes the style uniform and allows to combine the clothes in various ways creating elaborate and somewhat extravagant sets.
Masha Sharoyeva, who is, in the opinion of the cognoscenti and the media, one of the most outstanding young designers emerging in the recent years, presents her new collection at the Russian Fashion Week. Masha herself describes her new creations in the following way: "The spring and summer season for me is a spring and a summer as Russians understand them. It is the spring when the last melting snow is still lingering outside and one wants to cozy up in something warm and comfortable. The summer is when asphalt is becoming soft from the heat and blanched, light and faded colors are best in the clothing while the footwear should be vivid and impressive." With her unique recognizable style Masha Sharoyeva emphasizes in her new collection, first of all, correlation and combination of colors, patterns and shapes. As always, the clothes she creates are, on the one hand, practical and comfortable and, on the other, unique in their appearance - unusual lines, skillful transformation of traditional everyday apparel articles. Some items in the collection are properly suitable both for males and females. The fabrics used by the designer are cotton (from superfine up to close-weave), raincoat fabrics - from the flying thin transparent chintz up to the coarse cord, and wool, roller-dyed cloth. The footwear and accessories are created by the designer as well.
